Week 16

Love.

Christmas - that magic blanket that wraps itself about us, that something so intangible that it is like a fragrance. It may weave a spell of nostalgia. Christmas may be a day of feasting, or of prayer, but always it will be a day of remembrance - a day in which we think of everything we have ever loved.  - Augusta E. Rundel

I celebrated Christmas last weekend with my parents & youngest brother & his family. We had such a wonderful time. Lots of laughter. I was filled with joy to host everyone here. And was very grateful to my mom for helping prepare the feast. The weekend went by too fast which is always a good sign that you've thoroughly enjoyed yourself.

The following day I enjoyed my annual Christmas dinner / celebration with some very dear friends & their family. Time got away from us & we didn't get to play a game like we typically do but we still had a good time. Visiting & catching up; going to see some outrageous Christmas lights. We even got a few minutes of "It's a Wonderful Life" in - that's my friend's favorite holiday movie. Mine - "Miracle on 34th Street" - the original, not the remake. "A Christmas Story" - that's the older of my two brothers favorite. None of them have the effect on me that "Miracle" does. The movie is about faith, about believing. Believing in miracles.

Christmas -  "A day of remembrance" "A day in which we think of everything we have ever loved."

What do I love about Christmas?  The season evokes so many things that I would like to carry into the every day, every season.  Christmas is hope & peace, love & joy. Christmas is family, friends, feasting & festivities. Christmas makes me feel completely enveloped in love & friendship; I feel cozy & warm. It's that feeling - that feeling you just can't quite describe. You feel it so intensely but you can't find the perfect word to describe it. I would love to take that & carry it with me into every season. Not just Christmas - not just one day of remembrance.

Christmas causes me pause to remember how very blessed & loved I am.  My life is indeed extraordinary simply because I love & am loved. I believe that is the greatest gift we can give one another - love.
