"Grace isn't a little prayer you chant before receiving a meal. It's a way to live." - Attributed to Jacqueline Winspear
I was taught as a child to say grace before each meal. I have to be honest, I don't always say the blessing before meals now... it's not that I don't believe in it, but I try to live my life whereby I am offering up thanks regularly throughout the day & I don't want to live by such a strict schedule that I have to only give thanks at a certain time. Shouldn't I live thankfully & have that radiate continuously? That's my theory. I agree with Ms. Winspear that grace should be a way to live & not just the prelude to a meal.
Along the same thought, I read this article today. The premise is that the true secret to success is gratitude. And that to truly live a life of gratitude, you have to regularly practice it. The article challenges the reader to practice daily by recording the events of your day which created positive emotions - either in yourself or in those around you. Apparently this helps you focus on the good moments & give less weight to anything bad that happened.
Who can't use a little more positivity & gratitude in their lives? A little more grace? I know I sure could... & I know that is what I've been trying to accomplish... So I'm going to take the challenge. Starting today.
