"Be the change you wish to see in the world." - Mahatma Gandhi
So we've heard this all our lives…. But how often do we stop to truly think about what it means? How to apply it. How to be that change. I know I don't stop often enough… but I did over the last few days. I stopped & I realized that I'm not consistently being the change I wish to see in the world. I feel like I am failing more often than not. And that is not how I'd like to live.
What is my wish? This is a good time to ask – it is the start of the Christmas Season & all. My wish for the world:
And if I could only have one of those then I choose Love… the abiding, steadfast kind. The real kind. That comes from down deep. If we had more of that then the others would automatically happen, right?
When I'm gone, I'd like to be remembered for my character. For the good I showed. How can I be remembered for that if I'm not living that. So I'm going to consciously be the change I wish to see… I'm going to live with love, acceptance, tolerance, kindness, hope, patience & joy – selflessness should be a natural byproduct of that way of living. I'm going to start embracing it - I'm going to be the change I wish to see in the world. I know it won't happen overnight but every day that I am even a bit of that change is good. Is a step in the right direction. And that's the path I want to take. Be the change.
